This first batch of recipients of the 2005/2006 Superbrands Award status included ABS Bitter Herbs, Accel, Belo Medical Group, BluSkies, Bosch, Carter, Charantia, C-Lium Fibre, Columbia's, David's Salon, DHL, Ligo Sardines, Likas Papaya, Manila Bulletin, Mocha Blends, Nagaraya, Novellino Wines, R.A. The awards were presented by honorary DTI executive director Serafin Juliano and Karl McLean, chairman-Superbrand Marketing Intl. Inc.
Superbrands International as a worldwide arbiter of branding, awards the superbrands status deserving brands that have achieved formidable success in their brand building efforts. Established 12 years ago in London and spanning 48 countries, with 11 offices in Asia, Superbrands has featured more than 5,000 brands since its inception.
Superbrands in the Philippines has been promoting and publishing the success of many local home-grown and international brands since its foray into this country in 1996. The first edition featured 50 brands whilst the third edition featured 56 brands.
Synovate, a leading global research company, undertakes a nationwide consumer study as important part in selecting the potential 'superbrands' in this vast archipelago. Synovate samples a total of 500 respondents in the Philippines, covering both genders in the age group of 15-64. The survey questions are focused on the consumer's most preferred brands in the pre-determined product or service categories.
This exercise helps determine the superbrands-Synovate is an additional value-added undertaking by superbrands Asia to recognized and reward brands that are achieving exceptional consumer recognition and celebrate their success.
Detailed research analysis on each brand and the market also made available to all participating brands.
Nominated brands are also submitted to the Super brands Philippine Council. This panel luminaries in the media and branding industry qualitatively assess each brand according to strict criteria that includes market dominance, customer loyalty, longevity good will and overall market acceptance.

The Superbrands Philippines 2005/2006 Book will be published mid next year and will be distributed locally to the top 1,000 companies and globally to more than 48 countries.
