Together with other awardees, CDO was honored with a special statuette in a formal ceremony held October 28 at the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Philippine Plaza Hotel in Pasay City during the 16th Annual National Consumers Awards.

According to Atty. Quirino A. Marquinez, CUP president, CDO was chosen as the outstanding karne norte manufacturer after a thorough and careful evaluation of the merits of the company and its product.

"We are truly proud of you for serving the Filipino consumers with intergrity, passion and endearing efforts," Marquinez told executives.

The latest award solidifies CDO's reputation as the most outstanding meat processing company in the Philippines. Last year, the CUP also cited the Valenzuela-based food company as the outstanding karne norte manufacture at its 15th Annual National Consumer Awards.

Before this, the CUP conferred the Hall of Fame award to CDO during the 14th Annual National Consumer Awards in 2003, for being selected as the outstanding Meat Processor for five consecutive years from 1999 to have earned such an accolade from the prestigious consumer advocacy group.

Marquinez said CUP is non-government organization established in 1962 to protect and promote the interest of the Filipino Consumers.

He said the group bestows the national consumers awards to outstanding achievers in the field of manufacturing /producing, selling/retailing and consumer services who strive hard for excellence by giving quality goods ands services at the right quantity and reasonable price.

As such, he said CDO has received its numerous awards for the outstanding quality of its product and their beneficial effects to the consumer in terms of competitive prices, safety features, availability and other benefits.

CDO is the company behind the massive development and promotion of affordable, yet nutritious karne norte in the Philippines. The company, a story of corporate success in the Philippines, has helped the local meat processing industry on a crucial role to stabilized the prices and the supply of food products in the country.

In 1997, the company developed and introduced the CDO Karne Norte 100 gram tipid pack. This proved monumental for the company as demand for the product increased significantly nationwide from Aparri to Jolo.

Patronized by minimum wage earners, the product has become as a social commodity item together with sardines and noodles.
